This year’s awards bring a new twist—for the first time ever, MAPIC delegates’ votes carry the same weight as those of the high-profile international jury.
How it works
At MAPIC 2011 in Cannes, France (November 16-18), delegates and jury members will vote on their top selections. Votes are weighted equally between jury members and delegates, with the winners announced at the conference. The awards ceremony will take place in the Palais des Festivals at 18.30 on Thursday, November 17.
Jury members will also vote on a Personality of the Year and award a Special Jury Prize.
A winner’s opinion
A MAPIC Award is a major feather in the cap for any entrant, says Justin Tripp, Vice President of Lego Retail Stores and winner of Best New Retail Concept in 2010.
“Winning the award meant that I had to field a lot of calls from landlords and brokers who were interested in getting us into their properties. There were other benefits in terms of industry recognition and opportunities to develop our network not only for real estate, but also in terms of construction and design,” he says.
