Property Influencer: Mehmet Even

Mehmet Even is Assistant General Manager for property development at Turkish corporate giant Zorlu.

Founded in Istanbul in 2006, Zorlu’s real estate arm develops residential, business and retail property. This includes the Zorlu Centre, which will be situated on the most high-profile site in Istanbul, as well as one of the largest retail construction projects ever undertaken in the city.

Even joined us at MAPIC 2011 to discuss opportunities in the Turkish real estate market. In this exclusive video interview, he shares his insights into how the retail world has evolved over the past few years, and why the future is looking bright in Turkey.

According to him, developments like the Zorlu Centre represent retail innovation, in that they offer families more than just shopping. The Zorlu Centre will be a massive, multi-use facility offering visitors everything from a convention hall with space for 3,000 people, 105,000 m2 of retail and restaurant space, a city square and open park spaces, and an office block.

Even said the only way to ensure maximum footfall and repeat visitors is to offer a destination families want to visit. It’s not about stores, it’s about stories, he said.
