At last, nearly everybody has arrived in Cannes. And, one should point out that MIPIM actually begins much earlier…usually at the airport gate prior to departure.
In Cologne, where I started, there were the first talks about what was awaiting us. Michael Josipovic from the Economic Development Department of the City of Cologne and his team as well as his colleague Thomas Poggenpohl from the neighboring City of Bonn already arranged meetings for the presentation of both their cities at the North Rhine-Westphalia stand. And upon learning about this blog, I of course promised to mention them. Other cities from the “Country of Honour” are in Cannes as well. There is Munich – definitely worth a visit due to “weissbier” and weisswurst”, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuggart, and of course our capital Berlin. With Berlin on the fourth floor of the Palais there is a good opportunity to get an impression of the German real estate industry. At 10.30 am Wednesday morning, German ZIA Zentraler Immobilienausschuss (German Property Federation) will have its reception on this year’s MIPIM.
“Many at MIPIM are viewing Germany, especially as it has been selected this years’ ‘Country of Honour’. For us it is an honour as well that Reed Midem has chosen us. To our understanding, they chose the country of honour based on attractiveness for investments. No doubt, such is Germany at the time being”, says Andreas Mattner, President of ZIA, for mipimworldblog. “Many German exhibitors and visitors are in Cannes with a particular pleasure about that. For the first time ZIA has arranged a panel discussion on Tuesday afternoon and at the Wednesday morning reception with the city-state of Berlin.” Summing up, ZIA-President Andreas Mattner states: “This week, Cannes is the place to be.”
