Energy was up and spirits high as participants dove into Day 1 with vigour and enthusiasm.
With partly sunny skies and a buzz of excitement in the air, Mipim Asia opened to a full audience of eager participants as CY Leung, Chief Economist of Hong Kong addressed the crowd, “When it comes to real estate and many other business sectors, Hong Kong is the two-way Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) of China. Nearly all the major real estate and other related professional practices on the Chinese Mainland are branches or subsidiaries of Hong Kong firms. Hong Kong also accounts for nearly all the large overseas real estate developers in Mainland China. Together we possess a huge wealth of information and knowledge on the Chinese markets.”
The energy could be felt as participants strode through the halls, eager to attend the featured Conference Sessions of the morning. At the Investment summit, Dr. Joy Yang and Stephen Schwartz, Chief Economists for China and Asia respectively, gave a fantastic Keynote on the macro-economic theme: 2012 Major Economic Trends and Their Impact in 2013. Meanwhile, those participating in the Retail Summit got the chance of a lifetime to witness inspirational speaker and world renowned digital visionary, Robert Tercek, as he discussed the importance of digital technology and how it is enabling retailers to completely re-think their clients’ shopping experience.
Conference rooms were full, topic based lunch tables were fully booked, and the MIPIM Asia Club and Retail Lounge were brimming with visitors. The exhibition zone boasted beautiful stands as a very enthusiastic international crowd made its way through the halls. Networking zones were all abuzz and business was clearly in the air as clients exchanged cards and engaged in serious conversation.
The excitement continued throughout the day and into the Opening Cocktail, as participants looked forward to winding down after a hard day’s worked set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Hong Kong skyline.
