Keynote speaker Maxim Karbasnikoff believes the future of retail in Russia lies in changing consumer attitudes.
It was quite a turn out for Russian Keynote speaker Maxim Karbasnikoff, as many conference attendees were left standing shoulder to shoulder in the back of the room in order to participate. That didn’t stop the crowd from being engaged by the fresh and dynamic Karbasnikoff, Head of Retail at Cushman & Wakefield Russia.
Maxim reminded us that Russia is the largest retail market in Europe. He says, “If you want to ensure increasing sales, you should look at BRIC countries and Russia.” Trying to highlight the importance of this market, he added that Russian consumers spend 80% of their earnings on retail, and that focus needs to be placed on smaller cities due to more disposable income.
The Russian consumer is emulating the American model and becoming more demanding he says, wanting higher standards, and hungry for more.
