One of our student bloggers met up with Head of Real Estate Asset Research and Strategy at Deutsche Bank and asked him about current real estate investment hot spots in Europe.
Students from University of San Diego were at MIPIM this year and took a moment to interview Simon Durkin, Head of Real Estate Asset Research and Strategy of Deutsche Bank. Mr. Durkin spoke at the panel: “Asset diversification: pushing the boundaries to incorporate infrastructure and debt.” In the interview, he addresses some of the hot spots in Europe for real estate investment and what kind of investments are most promising for 2014.
Mr. Durkin still considers the key growth regions to be in the UK (Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds), Germany (Tier 2 cities) and Spain (Barcelona and Madrid). Although they are seeing some more risk in the market, most investment strategies are focused on core assets.
