The dLAB - 14 acres on Highway 401


dLAB comprises an area of 114 acres with frontage on Highway 401, Canada’s busiest highway; and 5 US border points are within 3-5 hours.

The project will house business, research, training, certification and employment uses in a compact, walkable environment. It is a joint project of Durham College, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, the River Oaks Group and Halloway Developments.

Phase 1 will include 12 buildings with a total of 60,000 sq.ft. per building or greater (a minimum total of 720,000 sq.ft.)

Business in the following sectors will have unique opportunities to access research facilities and expertise at the adjacent educational institutes:

Energy and environmental; Information and communications technology; Advanced manufacturing; Professional and technical services; Health and medicine sectors.

Whitby is located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and is 40 minutes by commuter train from Downtown Toronto.  There are over 120 million consumers within one day’s access by road.  Commuter train service from Downtown Toronto is proposed to be located at the site.
