Primark, one of the fastest growing clothing retailers in the UK, has just opened its new store in Creteil, in the southeastern suburb of Paris. Since its inauguration on the 6th of June, its fashionable clothing at affordable prices has already attracted crowds of French customers.
This will be the fifth store implanted in France by the Irish retail brand with main headquarters in Dublin already operating in the UK, Austria, Spain, Belgium and Germany. Primark has recently opened another new shop in Villeneuve-la-Garenne, in the northern suburbs of Paris, as well as a shop in Hammerson’s O’Parinor shopping centre. According to Jean-Philippe Mouton, Managing Director for Hammerson France, “Primark has been one of the outstanding retail success stories in recent years and its brand presence continues to drives strong footfall. Being able to deliver its compelling fashion offer to the Parisian catchment will strengthen O’Parinor’s appeal with both retailers and shoppers.” In addition to its European retail expansion, Irish clothing giant plans to launch its stores in the USA (in Boston) very shortly.

Primark was first launched under the name Penneys by Arthur Ryan and Micaela Mitchell in 1969 in Dublin. This fast-growing clothing chain successfully conquered the UK clothing retailer market by opening new stores in London and Manchester. Now Primark has 161 stores implanted in Great Britain. With fashionable clothes & accessories at low prices, the clothing retailer’s new business model is attractive not only to customers, but to the shopping centres in which it operates – driving heavy traffic to the site.
