Tally Weijl, a Swiss Clothing Retailer
This week we are presenting to you one of MAPIC’s participants, Tally Weijl, a family owned Swiss fashion brand dedicated to young women. Their headquarters are based in Basel (Switzerland) and the Design Studio is in the centre of Paris. In 2012, TALLY WEiJL generated external sales of CHF 451 million. Their main products are clothing and accessories.
The brand’s astonishing story began in the 1980s when young Tally Elfassi-Weijl, a future student of the Hotel School, created her fresh fashion designs for women clothing and accessories. This project started as many projects of young talented and ambitious people – in a small garage where Tally created her first audacious collections dedicated to conquer the heart of young snappy dressers.
She designed about twelve collections per year and supplied many Swiss fashion boutiques. Then together with her partner Beat Grüring she decided to create her own store. The label Tally Weijl was created to become one of the fastest growing fashion brands. In 2004, TALLY WEiJL launched its first advertising campaign with the “totally sexy” slogan. According to the company’s vision, “TALLY WeiJL is much more than a brand – it’s a lifestyle!”
Now Tally Weijl is a leading international fashion brand designing, producing and selling ‘sexy fashion’ clothing for young women and girls. They own over 760 stores – half of them belong to franchise partners – in 39 countries (Austria, France, Estonia, Germany, Turkey and others).
Tally Weijl seeks for further expansion and will be at MAPIC this fall to present their brand.
